Did Tory Lanez shoot Megan Thee Stallion?

R&B singer Tory Lanez was arrested in September 2020 for carrying a gun in Hollywood, which prosecutors claimed he used to shoot Megan Thee Stallion.

For years, the controversial star has denied shooting the Savage rapper, but ultimately, a jury did not agree.

Did Tory Lanez shoot Megan Thee Stallion?

In July 2020, Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, was arrested after cops found him in an SUV with his rumored girlfriend, Megan Thee Stallion, another woman, and a gun.

He was booked on felony charges of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle and released on bail the same day.

During that same event, Megan alleged that Laznez used the gun to shoot at her feet.

Footage showed cops ordering Megan and Lanez to get out of their SUV and to put their hands in the air as her feet bled.

A few days later, Megan took to Instagram to "set the record straight" after it was suggested that she had cut her foot on glass.

She revealed that she had "suffered gunshot wounds" and was taken to hospital.

Was Tory Lanez sentenced?

Lanez has maintained his innocence for years, but in December 2022, a jury found him guilty of shooting the hip-hop star.

On August 9, 2023, he was then sentenced to 10 years in prison without the possibility of parole, according to .

Jose Baez, Lanez's attorney, told reporters that the sentence was "extreme" and that they plan to appeal the judge's decision.

"Tory did not get the sentence that we had certainly hoped for," Baez said, via ABC News.

"I think the sentence that was handed down was incredibly harsh."

He added: "This is another example of someone being punished for their celebrity status and someone being utilized as a -- to send an example and he's not an example he's a human being.

"I think it's incredibly unfortunate, and it's something that we plan on appealing."

"This is a statement for all survivors that their lives matter and there is zero tolerance for the torture that accompanies violence."

Going into the sentencing hearing, Lanez faced up to 22 years and eight months in prison, according to ABC News.

What did Tory Lanez say about Megan Thee Stallion on his album Daystar?

Lanez denied shooting Megan on his album, Daystar, claiming the star's team was "trying to frame" him.

He rapped: "I ain't do it," before adding, "Megan['s] people trying to frame me for a shooting."

Appearing to question the validity of Megan's injuries, he continues: "How the f*** you get shot in your foot but don't hit no bones or tendons?"

In September 2020, reported Lanez sent text messages to Megan after the shooting, telling her that he "was just too drunk."

He did not reference the shooting or having a gun but said he felt "horrible."

The chain of text messages read: "I know u prolly never gone talk to me again, but I genuinely want u to know I'm sorry from the bottom of my heart."
