Singer Ellie Goulding was signed off sick from her Delirium Tour by doctors due to her long battle with insomnia
Hard-working star was gutted to axe gigs... but is set to wow fans in Chicago for last leg of her tour after St Tropez holiday

SHE is one of the hardest-working people in pop, which is why ELLIE GOULDING took everyone by surprise this month by cancelling a series of tour dates.
The singer blamed her no-shows on tiredness and a doctor’s warning that she could destroy her voice.
But now I’ve discovered the real reason behind why it all became too much for her. I’m told Ellie was signed off from the shows following a long battle with insomnia.
A music source revealed: “Ellie’s body clock is completely out of sync and she has found herself lying awake in bed most nights unable to get to sleep.
“All the travelling through random time zones has messed with her system. She just can’t get to sleep at night, and even when she’s back in England the insomnia is sapping her energy.
“She’s worried about it as she doesn’t want to be tired before going on stage. She’s a professional and wants to give her fans the best performances possible.

“Ellie’s had a couple of weeks off now and is hoping she can beat her insomnia through exercise and natural remedies.”
Ellie has been getting some well-earned rest on holiday in St Tropez since cancelling two European festival dates earlier this month.
The star was gutted but made the decision on doctor’s orders.
She said at the time: “I’ve done nearly 100 shows this year and my doctor has said if I do this weekend my voice might not bounce back from it.
“I have been diagnosed with exhaustion.”
Ellie has hinted at her trouble sleeping in the past and tweeted in March: “Been lying awake since 3am. So much fun.”
The star is set to make her return to the stage on Thursday in Chicago for the last leg of her Delirium tour.
Fingers crossed she has sweet dreams tonight.
