Jennifer Lopez snubbed by Academy for first-ever Oscar nomination as 2020 contenders announced

JENNIFER Lopez has been snubbed for an Academy Award.
were announced this morning in Los Angeles, and J. Lo did not receive a first-ever nod for her work in Hustlers.
Instead, Laura Dern (Marriage Story), Margot Robbie (Bombshell), Florence Pugh (Little Women), Kathy Bates (Richard Jewell) and Scarlett Johansson (Jojo Rabbit) were nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
Many critics thought Jennifer would be nominated, as she was recently one of the five nominees for the Screen Actors Guild Award in the same category.
Jennifer may not have been disappointed with her snub, however.
She told she wasn't going to wake up early to see if she was nominated or not.
She said: "Call me when it's over!"
"I think these things are just a big thrill ride, you know? I don't know what it is about them. Any way you go."
Other nominees include Brad Pitt for Best Supporting Actor in Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio for Best Actor in the same film, and Joaquin Phoenix for Best Actor in the Joker.
For Best Picture, only nine films were nominated this year, including fan-favorites Little Women, Joker and Marriage Story.

The Academy also snubbed Greta Gerwig for Little Women, Lulu Wang for The Farewell, Melina Matsoukas for Queen & Slim and Marielle Heller for A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
The nominations for Best Director stood out, as only men were included in the category.
The Oscars have been under fire in previous years due to their lack of diversity.
Presenter Issa Rae congratulated the group in a sarcastic tone and said: "Congratulations to those men."
