Who will be the next James Bond actor?

In 2022, The Sun exclusively revealed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was the frontrunner to be the next James Bond.

Since then his name has been strongly connected with the Bond franchise.

By March 2024, The Sun revealed how a "contract had been drawn up" and Bond bosses were just waiting for Aaron to sign on the dotted line.

A source said: “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.

“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

Aaron has seen his star soar since he starred in the John Lennon biopic, Nowhere Boy.

It was also on this film set that he met his future wife Sam Taylor-Johnson.

Aaron has starred in a number of Hollywood blockbusters, most notably in the Kick-Ass series and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Who has been offered the role of James Bond?

Ever since Daniel Craig stepped down as Bond, the bets have been on about who will replace him.

There have also been numerous reports that certain actors were all set to be offered the role.

One person who was strongly tied to Bond was Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy.

A source said: “Cillian is the toast of Hollywood right now and this would be the ultimate role.

"This is a way to elevate the Bond franchise with an actor who is at the very top of his game.”

Someone else needs to have a go at being Bond.

Daniel Craig on quitting 007

Before this, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, and Michael Fassbender were the main three names connected with the role.

But Fassbender was the first name to drop out of the race, saying that he was "too old for the part".

When it was announced by 007 film producer Michael G. Wilson that the new Bond would be a millennial, focus turned to Henry Cavill and James Norton.

There have been no women in the running because producer Barbara Broccoli told in 2020: "James Bond can be of any colour, but he is male.

"I believe we should be creating new characters for women – strong female characters. I'm not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.”
