Inside the off-screen life of Neighbours legend Madge ahead of epic soap return for last ever episode

NEIGHBOURS is set to come to an end very soon, and one of its most well-known character is Madge Bishop.
The Australian soap has been running since 1985, but recently announced its final episode date.
On July 28, 2022, the long-running show will air its last, hour-long episode in Australia, with it airing in the UK on July 29.
Fans will be saying goodbye to many much-loved characters, one of whom has been Madge Bishop.
Matriarch Madge was played by Anne Charleston, who joined the soap back in 1986.
The actress, now 79, was born in Melbourne, Australia, but has lived in Ireland for years.

Throughout her time on the soap, Anne gained a series of awards, including the Penguin Award for Best Actress in 1987.
In 1992, she left her role on Neighbours and emigrated across the pond, but returned to Oz four years later in 1996.
She left the show for good in 2001, only retuning for special anniversaries.
Away from Neighbours, Anne is also a familiar face to fans of ITV's Emmerdale.

Here in the UK, the actress has also had roles in Holby City, Justin's House and Doctors.
Her most recent acting role was in 2019, where she played Loris Webb in the Aussie TV series Bloom.
