He sent mum-of-two Emma Lord, 49, more than 80 Facebook messages and 20 texts, telling her how much he loved and needed her.

She had initially considered married Mills a friend after they met as members of running club Macclesfield Harriers.

But over two years, Mills became obsessed, leaving roses outside Ms Lord’s front door and writing her letters.

He then accused her of having a relationship with another runner because their Strava profiles showed them going on the same runs at the same time.

The app uses GPS to track jogging routes and times, which can then be shared online.

Warrington magistrates’ court heard HR worker Ms Lord, who used to run three times a week, had abandoned the activity for fear of bumping into Mills.

Macclesfield Harriers suspended his membership and UK Athletics suspended his coaching licence.

Cheshire Police are considering whether to bring criminal charges and applied for an interim three-month stalking protection order.

Mills opposed the application, saying he doesn’t think he’s a stalker.

But the civil order was granted.

Mills, from Macclesfield, cannot contact Ms Lord, nor approach her or send any gifts.
