How many people died in the Olde Town Arvada shooting?
Three people were killed Monday at the shooting.
Gordon Beesley, a 19-year veteran of the Arvada police department, was identified as one of the casualties.
The shooter and another unnamed “Samaritan,” were also identified by Deputy Chief Ed Brady at a news conference following the events.
The Jefferson County Coroner's office is set to release the identity of the unnamed samaritan at a later time, it has only been confirmed that the victim is an adult male.
“Obviously it’s a horribly sad day for Arvada and for the region,” Arvada Mayor Marc Williams said. “There’s been so much of this. You hate to see it happen anywhere, but to see it happen in your community really brings it home.”
Officer Beesley is the second Colorado police officer to die while responding to a shooting this year. of the Boulder police department died back on March 22, 2021.
When was the active shooting in Arvada?
Police were called to the scene at on June 21.
An officer responded to a call at 1:15pm about a suspicious incident near the library and within 15 minutes, shots had been fired.
The police department had issued an update on Twitter at 4:11pm ET regarding the shooting, saying: "Active situation in Old Town Arvada. Media stage at Webster/Ralston."
A shelter in place was issued while officer worked on the scenes and then a second one was issued around 5pm and lifted at 8:45pm.

The shooting occurred at 57th and Olde Wadsworth, a shopping district in the Denver suburb.
Arvada closed their City Hall and canceled a City Council meeting that was scheduled, to provide resources for first responders and investigators.
Police are investigating what led to the shootout, Arvada police determined it was an isolated incident and there was no further threat to the community.
