YOU'LL BE WAITING A WHILE

Moment shopper is spotted waiting for a bus at a Tesco trolley bay

Lorry driver saw her standing at the bay but did not have the heart to tell her of the mistake

A WOMAN was spotted by a lorry driver waiting for a bus at a Tesco trolley bay.

The elderly lady was seen reading a book as she waited, after muddling the enclosed shelter where the trolleys are kept for a bus stop.

With only a few trolleys in the covered bay in the Great Dunmow Tesco, in Essex, it is easy to see how it could have perhaps been mistaken for a bus shelter.

She asked Wayne Crossman, a lorry driver, when the bus would be coming as he walked past her but he misunderstood and said he was not able to help.

The 35-year-old said: "I had just dropped in around midday to grab some lunch and as I was coming out of the shop she was already stood at the area where you leave your trolleys.

"As I went past she said to me 'do you know what time these things run?'

"I didn't really know what she was on about so I just apologised and carried on.

"I got in my lorry and sat eating my lunch and then looked back at her to see her leaning against the post and she had now got out a book and was reading.

"It then dawned on me what he question meant. She thought it was a bus stop.

"It was clearly a trolley bay so I have no idea how she got mixed up.

"I thought about getting out to tell her but I didn't have the heart to do it. It was a nice day anyway. I think if it had been raining I would have had to get out and say something.

"She was there for the whole 15 minutes while I ate my lunch and didn't look like she was going anywhere when I drove away. I have no idea how long she ended up waiting in the end.

"Lots of friends did say I should have told her – I suppose I should have. I am sure someone must have said something to her in the end."
